Throughout history, Chickasaws have always honored their elders and looked to them for guidance and wisdom. This is an age-old tradition that continues to this day.

The Chickasaw Nation considers its elders “living treasures” and works hard to provide the best service and care for them. The Chickasaw Nation remains devoted to the health and well being of its elders.  Many of the programs and services the Chickasaw Nation provides are focused on ensuring the longevity and vitality of all aspects of the tribal elders’ lives.

Many Chickasaw elders are active members of the tribal community and serve the Nation in vital roles of culture and language preservation. The Chickasaw Honor Guard, the Chickasaw Fluent Speakers and the Council of Elders are just a few of the ways these valuable assets contribute to the tribe.
