Youth Arts Month

Youth Arts Month

Join the Chickasaw Nation as we celebrate Youth Arts Month!

Our fast changing world requires that future leaders - today's children - be creative and imaginative when solving problems. These are skills that are learned best by children who are involved in the arts. Youth Arts Month is an annual observance each March emphasizing the value of art education for all children while encouraging support for quality school art programs. The month-long observance provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the arts.

Quality school art programs provide a myriad of life skills and experiences for students, including: the development of divergent and critical thinking, multi-cultural awareness and technical and expressive skills; fostering opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds to participate in the creative process and the development of self-esteem and self-expression, as well as appreciation for the work of others.

Art empowers! By enabling students to develop self-direction and to interact with their educators and peers, we can make a world of difference for our children - a world in which cultural differences are identities to be preserved, not overcome.

Note: Due to the overwhelming interest in last year's lessons, the Youth Art Month lesson plans are back!  Just click one of the links below to begin!
