Mountain House

The mountain house, or council, is larger in dimension in comparison to the winter and summer houses.

The furnishings in the mountain house consisted of couches around the walls with small benches between the posts. This was a place for the Chickasaws to meet and discuss business, from everyday functions within the Chickasaw villages, to the removal of the Chickasaw people and signing of treaties such as the Pontotoc Creek Treaty, signed on October 20, 1832.
