Photos from Youth Heritage Day conducted at the Tishomingo Wildlife Refuge. Students were able to see the culture of the Chickasaw people through demonstrations.
Attractions of historical interest abound, including the original Chickasaw National Capitol Building (which is currently undergoing an extensive restoration program), the restored Chickasaw National Bank and the Chickasaw Nation's Council House Museum, all located in Tishomingo. The Burney Institute and the Lebanon School for Girls (tribal schools circa 1860) are also located nearby.
Other attractions include the Chickasaw National Recreation Area (part of the National Park Service and the only national park in the state), Arbuckle Wilderness (a drive-through animal preserve with exotic animals from around the world), the Arbuckle Mountains, municipal parks and annual celebrations in various communities.
